**** Columbia Network Research Center Student Seminar **** Title: Routelets and Network Processors Speaker: Michael Kounavis When: Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 3:00-4:00 pm Where: CS Conference Room Computer Science Dept. 4th floor, Mudd Building Columbia University ABSTRACT In my talk, I will present a programming model for supporting virtual routers in network processors. Virtual routers are programmable router architectures consisting of modular datapaths and control planes. I will describe the realization of different router architectures that can share the resources of the same IXP1200 chip and present some performance results. Issues associated with the dynamic binding of protocol components into the microengines of the IXP1200 network processor will be discussed in detail. This is joint work with Andrew Campbell, Stephen Chou and Vassilis Stachtos.
