**** Columbia Network Research Group Seminar **** Title: A sample of Internet Measurement Research at AT&T Labs-Research Speaker: Balachander Krishnamurthy & Jennifer Rexford AT&T Labs-Research When: Wednesday, October 10, 2001 - 2 pm Where: Interschool Lab Seventh Floor, CEPSR building Columbia University Host: Prof. D. Rubenstein ABSTRACT In this joint talk we give a overview of ongoing research related to collecting and analyzing Internet measurements at various levels of the protocol stack. The first part of the talk focuses on how to support traffic engineering by constructing a network-wide view of topology, configuration, and routing data for a large IP backbone. The second part of the talk will discuss how data gathered at various levels have been used to explore specific protocols. The focus will be on a novel way to use Netflow data to characterize DNS traffic. Bala and Jennifer will talk for approximately 30 minutes each. Both of them are researchers at ATT Labs-Research and recently co-authored Web Protocols and Practice: HTTP/1.1, Networking Protocols, Caching, and Traffic Measurement http://cseng.aw.com/book/0,3828,0201710889,00.html http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201710889
